Madagascar (film) - Review

Life is full of wonders and adventures waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately, there is a price: freedom has as many downsides as it has upsides. Captivity may be cruel, but it sure is safer than the wildlife, plus it comes with free food! Anyways, always be careful what you wish for, because you never know when this wish can bite you in the butt later. This is what I think about Madagascar.

Tired of doing the same thing for ten years, Marty the zebra wishes to break free from the zoo and experience the wild. His friend, Alex the lion, tries in vain to convince Marty otherwise, but Marty manages to escape the zoo through a hole made by the penguins Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private. Alex and his other friends, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippopotamus, reach Marty and try to get him back only to be captured and shipped to a wildlife preserve after the zoo is pressured by anti-captivity activists. Unfortunately, en-route there, the crates containing Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria fall into the sea and wash ashore an island, fulfilling Marty’s wish for freedom. But with predators around the island, will they be able to survive long enough until the ship reaches them?

A great movie about freedom and misadventures, I liked it. With so many comedic moments, it will be hard to hate this movie that was the start of a great franchise. A great must-watch for all families of all ages (though there may be some moments that are “questionable”).
