Xbox One has great games, though it can take a while to actually choose which game to get. Sometimes the prices seem a little iffy to some. You could just wait for a publisher's sale so you can just get games cheaper, but even at a cheaper price, you're not simply gonna throw money at whatever game catches your eye, will you? Even with the option to just return the game to claim your money back seems unfair. Do you want to try the full game without a short trial? Microsoft got you covered, they made a video game subscription called "Xbox Game Pass".
Xbox Game Pass is practically Netflix, but with games from both Xbox Game Studios and third-party publishers. And yes, games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 can also be enjoyed through backwards-compatibility. The catalog is huge, with no limit to how many games you can play, other than your console's storage capacity. As long as the game stays in the catalog, it's available for unlimited download times and playtimes. In case the game you played on the catalog becomes your favorite, you can purchase at a 20% discount to own it digitally. DLC gets 10% discount. If the game inevitably leaves the pass or your subscription expires, you obviously can't play it, but your in-game progress will be kept until you choose to purchase it. You also don't Xbox Live Gold to play the games, but you do need it for a game's multiplayer function. But there's another way to bypass it.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the version that combines the Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold on a single package, which can be used by both console and PC. You'll get all the benefits from the Game Pass (being able to download and play full games) and Xbox Live Gold (online gaming, discounts and Games with Gold). As of now, you can even play Xbox games on your Android phone through xCloud with the Ultimate subscription and heck, you can play EA games through EA Play and, why not, a month of Disney+.
So yes, even if you don't like Xbox, you can't deny the perks it can offer for players of all types. I use the Game Pass to play games on my Xbox One S, meaning that all the small regret I had for getting that console instead of PS4 have all vanished. I'm not able to purchase games at the moment, but I can play some of them through a great subscription service and the option to take it further exists. If you're interested, you can get the Game Pass on either the console or PC through the digital store or by purchasing a code from terminal, if you can. Remember, the Ultimate version gives you perks from Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold and more!
