Maxwell betrays and orders the "infected" outrider to be killed. The outrider slaughters the followers and defeats Maxwell, but it's too late: the colony is already on the way to the cursed planet. And since there's no cure to the outrider's condition, he's placed in cryo-sleep to prevent further infection.
